Valmont Microflect is at your service with a complete line of tapered steel monopoles designed for cellular, PCS, land mobile, microwave, broadcast, and other applications. We can coat larger structures at higher speeds and finish quality than anyone else in the industry to help your project come in on time, on spec and on budget.
Design
Structural analysis is performed to national codes such as EIA Standard 222 or UBC, or to local codes when specified. Design loads including structure and accessory weights, ice loading, and wind pressures are applied to determine the maximum stresses. Steel design is per AISC specifications, with local buckling criteria in accordance with ASCE publication "Design of Steel Transmission Pole Structures." Analysis and drafting are performed using our state-of-the-art pole analysis and CAD-CAM software. Poles that support microwave dishes are designed using the allowable twist and sway limits as specified in EIA standard 222. Special deflection requirements can also be met when specified by the customer.
Material and Fabrication
Materials- Structural steel shapes, plates, cast forgings, and hardware conform to AISC and ASTM specifications. Typical materials used include ASTM A6, A572 Gr. 6.5, and A588 for structural steel, and A325 for bolts. Mechanical and chemical certification data is available for all material upon request.

Pole Shafts -
Pole shaft are available in 16-sided cross sections. Each shaft is a constant-tapered hollow steel section up to 55 feet in length. Slip joints are a minimum 1-1/2 times pole diameter. |
Base Plates -
Base plates are designed to meet or exceed the strength of the adjacent poleshaft section. The base plate is welded to the pole shaft using top and bottom circumferential welds, or using a full-penetration butt weld. |
Anchor Bolts -
Anchor bolts are provided loose with a setting template. Each bolt is provided with one leveling nut, one hold-down nut, and two flat washers. Anchor bolts are galvanized for a minimum of eight inches on the threaded end; the portion of the bolt that is embedded in the concrete is not galvanized. |

Antenna Mounts and Platforms -
Antenna mounts for cellular and PCS panel or omni directional antennas are available in a variety of configurations, including rotatable platforms, curved arms, and straight arms. A variety of pipe mounts can also be used for mounting parabolic antennas. The pole can be designed to support multiple carriers as required. |

Finish -
Poles are hot-dip galvanized after fabrication. Powder coating and epoxy painting are also available in standard colors, or can be custom colored per customer requirements. |
Valmont Microflect introduces a new line of communication products. The new standardized design allows for a quick turn-around time, yet it is flexible enough to meet certain customized requirements.
