Self Supporting Towers

Valmont Microflect is at your service with a wide variety of self-supporting towers to meet your communications needs.

Valmont Microflect's line of self-supporting towers includes five categories: small microwave towers, light-duty 700 Series towers, 800 Series L and M towers, 900 Series towers and custom towers. Within each of these categories, there are a wide variety of options related to capacity, mounting locations (roof, wall and ground), and section types utilized for legs, diagonals, and girts. Our experienced sales staff is always available to help in the selection of the most appropriate tower type for any installation.

Small Towers
The small tower line includes roof-mounted frames, antenna wall mounts, and a variety of angle and pipe towers with varying capacities. Many of these towers are standard designs that can be found in Valmont/Microflect's Catalog 45. The advantage in ordering a small standard tower over other towers relates to cost and scheduling. The catalog thoroughly describes and compares each model, enabling you to pick the tower that best suits your needs.

Our small microwave towers are available in a variety of shapes and sizes and have been designed to the same high standards as all other Valmont Microflect products. The towers have been designed to accommodate a variety of antenna sizes, positions, and mounting schemes.

700 Series
The 700 Series towers are designed to support VHF/UHF antennas and/or smaller microwave antennas. The aim of this series is to provide a light duty tower at a minimum cost. The economy is realized by features such as:
  1. Use of step bolts for climbing on the lower sections and tower members on the smaller top sections.

  2. The standard top 80 feet of the tower is made in 10 foot welded sections, significantly reducing erection costs.

  3. High strength steels have been used to take advantage of their lower cost-to-strength ratio.
800 Series
The 800 Series L and M tower line is composed of 3- and 4-leg towers ranging in height from 10 feet to over 400 feet. The 800 series product line was designed with the following objectives in mind:
  1. To provide a versatile, efficient structure for heavy-duty microwave applications.

  2. To offer a tower constructed from discrete bays or modules. Flexibility, in terms of capacity, framing options, and future load capabilities, was a major consideration in the design.

  3. To provide many options for antenna positioning and the accommodation of antenna side struts and azimuth rods.

  4. To offer a structure whose members are sized efficiently and whose joints have minimal eccentricities.

  5. To present a series of towers which have members sized to capacity for given head loads and given heights. An inventory of standard components is maintained for the 800 Series. Modified 800 Series towers are also available for loads outside the standard range.

  6. To develop a tower that has a wide range of options in terms of platforms and antenna mounting, yet can be analyzed, configured, and fabricated with less time and difficulty than a custom tower.

  7. To offer the most versatile, efficient, and well-engineered self-supporting tower line in the industry.

  8. To develop a system for documenting final tower designs for future reference and thus increasing the efficiency of the reorder process for the user.
900 Series
The 900 Series towers are designed to support cellular/PCS omni-directional and panel antennas. They can also be configured to support light microwave applications.

Through the use of computer automation, we can quickly have the tower design package prepared and sent to you for use in obtaining permits. Standardized modular design expedites the manufacturing process and significantly shortens delivery time. Custom-designed structures are also available for loads which exceed the capacity of the modular tower.

Custom Towers
Custom self-supporting towers are often designed to meet unusual and extremely specific requirements for equipment mounting, platform arrangements, and ladder or stairway access. Severe loading conditions may also result in the need for a custom tower.

Valmont Microflect is willing and able to modify standard towers or design a new tower to meet your custom needs.
