Coatings
With demand for galvanizing as a protective coating continuing to increase in the 1990s and internal needs absorbing the capacity of the galvanizing facility at the main plant in Valley, Nebraska, the Company built new galvanizing plants in West Point, Nebraska and Tulsa, Oklahoma. These facilities provide another capability to better serve other manufacturers' requirements for quality protective coatings.
In 1998, Valmont again expanded its coatings capacity with the acquisition of three galvanizing operations: Intermountain Galvanizing in Lindon, Utah, Pacific States Galvanizing in Tualatin, Oregon, and Cal West Galvanizing in Long Beach, California. In 2000, the company added three more locations with anodizing capabilities with the acquisition of Applied Coating Technologies (ACT), near Minneapolis, Minnesota, Empire Galvanizing in Chicago, Illinois, and George Industries in Los Angeles, California. This internal growth and these acquisitions helped fulfill the Company's internal galvanizing needs at various locations in North America and, at the same time, serve the growing worldwide demand for galvanizing. |
