Valmont offers combination structures that can help customers avoid problematic zoning restrictions and increase revenues. These structures support not only the standard utility loads but also communication equipment, typically for cellular or PCS carriers. Valmont has been a major market supplier in both the utility industry and the wireless communications industry for decades, so we know how to meet the needs of customers in both industries.
From a utility point of view, these combination poles are an excellent way of generating additional revenue from existing assets. With a proactive approach, communications capabilities can be easily designed into new projects. The design additions may range from a simple antenna support, to an increased structure height and stiffness for adequate antenna performance. No matter what the addition, Valmont has the experience to handle it successfully.
For customers with utility structures already in service, we can recommend any of our pre-designed components or create a custom part to suit any need. Our standard parts include applications for lattice structures that allow mounting below the conductors to the structure itself, or attaching to a supporting antenna platform at the top of the structure. Our standard pole attachments can handle most pole sizes and shapes with little or no modification to the pole itself. If none of our standard parts suit the need, we have a full staff of engineers and drafters ready to solve the problem quickly and cost effectively.
