Our company manufactures and distributes agricultural products - fans and heaters for grain bins; and a full-line of grain handling equipment for filling and emptying grain bins. Valmont G90 galvanized tubing is an integral component in manufacturing our equipment.
We've been working with Valmont for 11 years now and we order about five truckloads of tubing from them every year. We're certainly not Valmont's largest customer but we feel like we're one of its most important customers. That's because they go out of their way to make sure that we get a top-quality product when we need it - and they actually help us save money. That's important in any business, and particularly so for a small or mid-size business.
How do they do it? First of all, they make sure our prices are fair. A few years back when there was a sharp increase in steel prices, Valmont passed along as little of that price hike as they could. And they've kept our prices at a reasonable level ever since. And because the cost of shipping the product adds so much, the Valmont Traffic Department works very hard to make sure that our order is piggybacked with another Valmont shipment coming to our part of the state. That really helps reduce our overall costs. Finally, the consistency and quality of the Valmont Tubing helps us make sure that the products we build are the best. We have never had an order sent from Valmont that wasn't top notch - and that helps us meet deadlines and keep our customers happy.
Obviously Valmont values my business. Even though I'm not their biggest customer, they often make me feel like I am- and that's the kind of relationship that makes for long-time business partners. |
