Spun Concrete Poles
Spun concrete poles from Valmont-Newmark set the standard for design, durability and strength. With the benefits of spinning and prestressing, Valmont-Newmark manufactures concrete poles with the highest density, lowest weight and best strength-to-weight ratio available. Our attention to design and manufacturing details and the benefits of concrete are leading more utilities to spun concrete poles from Valmont-Newmark. Look to Valmont-Newmark for our advanced state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing technologies to deliver durable, high strength and economical spun concrete poles to meet your requirements.
Unsurpassed Durability
Unsurpassed durability is a product of our manufacturing process and the inherent properties of concrete. With virtually no degradation from even the most severe environments, you can expect our spun concrete poles to enhance the longevity of the power delivery line.
High Strength
The centrifugal casting process and the use of prestressed strand produces concrete poles of incredible strength. The process compacts and increases the already substantial strength of our concrete, enabling Valmont-Newmark's spun concrete poles to support the same loads as steel poles.
Prestressed strands significantly increase strength and cracking resistance, providing ultimate moment capacities far beyond those found in non-prestressed static cast alternatives. Valmont-Newmark's spun concrete poles, in service extensively throughout Florida, weathered sustained winds of 145 mph and gusts exceeding 200 mph without a single failure when Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida in 1992.
Low Lifetime Costs
The economics of concrete, easier installations and virtually no post-installation maintenance result in low lifetime costs of Valmont-Newmark spun concrete poles. Direct burial is used extensively, significantly reducing installation costs. There is no rusting or rotting to monitor, and replacements and patches are not needed. These factors provide a much better return on investment over the long-term.
Patented Splice Joints
Valmont-Newmark's patented splice joints allow us to manufacture spun concrete poles over 200 feet in length. The use of the splice joint provides a far more easily assembled and economical connection between pole sections than traditional flange splices. However, for applications with special requirements, traditional flange splices are available. |
