Delta plc


Delta plc was an international group headquartered in the United Kingdom and listed on the London Stock Exchange (DLTA).    

Valmont Industries, Inc. acquired Delta plc on 12 May 2010.  At the time of the acquisition, Delta plc had manufacturing operations employing over 2,500 people in Australia, Asia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. 

Delta plc's shares have been delisted, and the name of Delta plc has been changed to Delta Limited.  The Registered Office of Delta Limited is Delta Limited, Thames House, Portsmouth Road, Esher, Surrey, United Kingdom, KT10 9AD.  Delta Limited’s registration number is 00026077.   

Delta Limited is the sponsor of The Delta Pension Plan, a final average salary pension plan which provides retirement benefits for Delta plc’s former UK based employees.

Delta plc’s businesses included Engineered Steel Products, Galvanizing Services and Manganese Materials businesses. 

The Engineered Steel Products businesses, located in Asia Pacific, produced road safety barrier systems, power transmission and distribution, lighting and telecommunications poles, industrial grating and access systems, architectural sunscreen systems, and forged steel grinding media. 

The Galvanizing Services businesses provided hot dip galvanizing services at plants in Australia, Asia and the United States. They also reclaimed zinc from ash and dross, and produced zinc alloys and oxides. 

Delta plc’s Engineered Steel Products and Galvanizing Services businesses have been integrated with Valmont’s Engineered Infrastructure Products and Coatings businesses. 

Delta plc’s interests in Manganese Materials businesses included a 56% shareholding in Delta EMD Limited and a 49% shareholding in Manganese Metal Company.  Delta EMD Limited is a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company that is a leading global supplier of Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide, a material used in the manufacture of disposable batteries.  Manganese Metal Company is a leading global supplier of manganese metal, a material used in the production of steel, aluminum and electronic components.  Both Delta EMD Limited and Manganese Metal Company are based in South Africa.  Valmont continues to hold an interest in Delta EMD Limited, and disposed of its interest in Manganese Metal Company during February 2013.
